Well friends, welcome to the legalese party. This is the part of the website where I make disclosures about the content you’re reading, affiliate links therein and what happens to your information when you sign up for my list.
We have a lot to cover, let’s get started.
This site is affiliated with Mediavine for the purposes of placing advertising on the site. Mediavine uses standard and widely-available tools for the placement and serving of ads. We publish interest-based advertisements on the site; that is, ads that are tailored to reflect your interests. To help understand your interests, Mediavine and our other advertising partners will track your behavior on our website and on other websites across the internet using cookies.
A cookie is a file containing an identifier (a string of letters and numbers) that is sent by a web server to a web browser and is stored by the browser. The identifier is then sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server. Cookies may be either “persistent” cookies or “session” cookies: a persistent cookie will be stored by a web browser and will remain valid until its set expiration date unless deleted by the user before that date; a session cookie, on the other hand, will expire at the end of the user session, when the web browser is closed. Cookies do not typically contain any information that personally identifies a user, but personal information that we store about you may be linked to the information stored in and obtained from cookies.
Appropriate security measures will be adopted to protect your information from access by unauthorised persons and against unlawful processing, accidental loss, destruction and damage. However, you acknowledge that data transmission over the internet is inherently unsecure and that we cannot guarantee the security of data you send over the internet.
Your information will only be held for a reasonable period or as long as the law requires or permits.
We will not sell, trade, give, etc., the statistics that we collect on this site to any third party, without your express permission. The data that we collect is not mined or used for marketing purposes in any way. The data or mailing list that we collect is used solely for purposes of web metrics and traffic analysis by Google Analytics and MailChimp.
When you subscribe to my mailing list, MailChimp will request contact details like your name and e-mail address. This information is collected so that you may be added on to the mailing list database for future updates, newsletters and alerts.
We are not responsible for republished content from this blog on other blogs or websites without our permission.
Jen on a Jet Plane uses affiliate links. When you click on an affiliate link and make a purchase, we receive a referral fee at no extra cost to you. Jen on a Jet Plane is open to forms of cash advertising, sponsorship, and other forms of compensation and/or projects. Despite this, Jen on a Jet Plane will never recommend and write about products or brands that we don’t personally use or believe in.
We are not responsible for the actions of our advertisers or sponsors. If you purchase a product or service based upon a link from my website, you must take action with that company to resolve any issues and NOT with our website. Any product, claim, statistic, quote or other representation about a product or service should be verified with the manufacturer, provider or party in question.
Mediavine Programmatic Advertising
The Website uses Mediavine to manage all third-party advertising on the Website. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the Website, which may use first and third-party cookies. A cookie is a small text file which is sent to your computer or mobile device (referred to in this policy as a “device”) by the web server so that a website can remember some information about your browsing activity on the Website. The cookie may collect information relating to your use of the Website, information about your device such as the device’s IP address and browser type, demographic data and, if you arrived at the Website via a link from a third-party site, the URL of the linking page.
First party cookies are created by the website that you are visiting. A third-party cookie is frequently used in behavioral advertising and analytics and is created by a domain other than the website you are visiting. Third-party cookies, tags, pixels, beacons and other similar technologies (collectively, “Tags”) may be placed on the Website to monitor interaction with advertising content and to target and optimize advertising. Each internet browser has functionality so that you can block both first and third-party cookies and clear your browser’s cache. The “help” feature of the menu bar on most browsers will tell you how to stop accepting new cookies, how to receive notification of new cookies, how to disable existing cookies and how to clear your browser’s cache. For more information about cookies and how to disable them, you can consult the information at www.allaboutcookies.org/manage-cookies/.
Without cookies you may not be able to take full advantage of the Website content and features. Please note that rejecting cookies does not mean that you will no longer see ads when you visit our Site.
The Website may collect IP addresses and location information to serve personalized ads and pass it to Mediavine.
